From its establishment in 1952 to the present, the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) continually strengthens its mandate to be the respected and recognized leader in Dermatology. The PDS aims to be a highly recognized society, locally and globally, striving towards excellence in the attainment of healthy skin for all. The society’s progress is guided by the five pillars of education, research, outreach, engagement, and advocacy. The core advocacy of the PDS is “Skin Health and Skin Safety,” which is why the slogan, “ PDS DermAuthority” was coined to perfectly define a PDS dermatologist - a properly trained, competent, and ethical physician who is a true expert on skin, hair, and nails. Ultimately, the aim of the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) is to be the leading organization that promotes the advancement of dermatology as a medical specialty and the highest standard of skin health care in the Philippines.
The Pediatric Dermatology Society of the Philippines (PDSP) is a subspecialty society under the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) dedicated to advancing pediatric dermatology in the country. Originally an interest group, PDSP was founded by board-certified dermatologists who recognized the need for specialized pediatric skin care, and pursued their pediatric dermatology training abroad. From an initial six members, the PDSP has grown to eighteen, actively engaging in research, outreach, and conferences. Its mission is to provide comprehensive dermatological care for children, with a vision of being a leader in pediatric skin health, research, and education.
The Asian Society of Pediatric Dermatology (ASPD) is a non-stock, non-profit organization comprising Pediatric Dermatological Interest Groups from Singapore and neighboring Asian countries. Its mission is to advance clinical service, training, and research in pediatric dermatology, while fostering collaborations and camaraderie among member groups. The ASPD aims to provide a platform for exchanging ideas and best practices, promote international recognition, conduct relevant research, and establish training programs and scholarships to enhance pediatric dermatology practices across Asia.
PDS is the only specialty society in Dermatology recognized by the Philippine Medical Association and the Philippine College of Physicians.

I would like to extend my congratulations to the excellent organizing committee of the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) Annual Convention for 2025, entitled “Building Bridges: Exploring Innovations in Pediatric, Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology” to be held November 4-7, 2025. This year’s convention promises to be world-class and groundbreaking, as it is the first time PDS hosts the Asian Society Meeting of Pediatric Dermatology (ASMPD) , in collaboration with the Asian Society of Pediatric Dermatology (ASPD) and the Pediatric Dermatology Society of the Philippines (PDSP). This first of its kind regional partnership highlights the excellence of PDSP as our PDS subspecialty society, composed of highly trained board-certified dermatologists who specialize in the care of pediatric age patients. This unique group of patients require special care of their skin hair and nails, and this is a wonderful opportunity for dermatologists, pediatricians and family care practitioners to benefit from the expertise of over 17 regional specialists from the Asian region. The scientific program features a who’s who of global Pediatric Dermatology stars including Dr Annette Wagner, Prof John McGrath, Dr Leong Kin Fong, Dr Yong Kwang Tay, Dr Mark Koh, Dr Srie Prihanti, Dr Rashmi Sarkar and of course our own roster of excellent Filipino speakers.
We welcome our regional delegates and speakers to the Philippines, and hope to shower them with the renowned hospitality and warmth of the Filipino host. Let’s enjoy reuniting and learning with our friends, look forward to a great fellowship night entitled “A World In Love” as we are regaled by our PDS colleagues with their talents, and once again enjoy the wonderful facilities of Marriott Grand Ballroom.
I am deeply grateful to the PDS board and council of elders for the guidance and encouragement, Convention Chair Dr Lizz Paz Tan and Co-Chair Dr Cindy Jao Tan, Secretary General Dr Donna Sarrosa for their amazing leadership, and our ASPD and PDSP partners for their support and generosity. I look forward to advancing my knowledge and skills by learning innovations in pediatric, medical and cosmetic dermatology! Mabuhay and God bless us all!

Warm greetings to everyone! Welcome to another golden opportunity for a collaborative learning experience.
This year’s convention is exciting not only for its rich array of topics on various dermatologic issues but also because we shall be learning from personal experiences coming from different angles and perspectives from both local and foreign speakers. All these gems of knowledge will be shared in the spirit of synergy and collaboration.
Going through the list of topics in our convention is like skimming through the pages of Fitzpatrick’s book. It is not only comprehensive. It also combines both theoretical knowledge and valuable first-hand clinical experiences, plus a bird’s eye-view of what artificial intelligence and modern technology have in store for us in the future.
As we immerse into our 2025 Annual Convention, let us approach this interactive experience with open minds, ready to learn and to share knowledge about the enigma of the skin. Truly, the skin is one special organ of the body that serves not just as a protective mantle to the various organ systems underneath it but also as a reflective mirror of our general well-being. Thus, a citizenry with healthy glowing skin makes up for a microcosmic indicator of a healthy nation.
Let us once again be excited to learn. As Confucius would say, “Real knowledge is knowing the extent of your ignorance.” Ergo, let us be ready to learn and be enlightened so we can be better dermatologists at par with our peers anytime, anywhere.
At this point, let me congratulate the organizing committee, along with our partners—the Asian Society of Pediatric Dermatology and the Pediatric Dermatology Society of the Philippines—for an excellent preparation and lineup of topics!
Again, to all of us learners, Mabuhay!
